鈥淕ood things come to those who wait鈥 is an appropriate proverb for Tramon Douglas.

The former Glen Oaks High and Grambling standout is the new head football coach at Class 5A Woodlawn High. The school also added one of its previous head coaches, former 乱伦社区 quarterback Marcus Randall, as athletic director and offensive coordinator.

It is the first head coaching job for the 42-year-old Douglas, who served as the Panthers interim coach through spring drills and summer workouts. He enters his seventh season at the District 4-5A school.

鈥淏ecoming the head coach at Woodlawn is, first of all, a blessing,鈥 Douglas said. 鈥淚 have been coaching football since 2009. I am always a believer in time 鈥 that God has a plan and time for us all.

鈥淣ow is my time to be in this seat at Woodlawn. And the goal is to turn this into a championship program.鈥

The Panthers were 5-5 in their only season under Scott Pellegrin, who was told in February that the school was opting to go in a new direction. WHS lost to Shreveport鈥檚 C.E. Byrd in the first round of the LHSAA鈥檚 Division I select playoffs.

Douglas served as offensive coordinator for Randall for five seasons and was wide receivers coach last fall. Randall spent the 2024-25 school year as an administrator at Istrouma and also ran for a seat on the East Baton Rouge Parish Metro Council.

Randall assumes Woodlawn鈥檚 vacant AD position. The previous Panther athletic director, Brent Broussard, was hired as athletic director at Episcopal last month.

Douglas and Randall were a prolific QB-wide receiver team at Glen Oaks. They will welcome another former GOHS teammate to Woodlawn in Ryan Cook, who will be a defensive assistant/associate head coach.

Cook resigned as Scotlandville鈥檚 head coach after the 2024 season. He was the defensive coordinator at Madison Prep when the Chargers won the Class 3A title in 2020. Woodlawn returns nine starters 鈥 five on defense and four on offense

The 4-5A rivalry between the Panthers and Liberty also becomes a teammate saga. First-year Liberty coach Jimmy Zachery and Douglas were teammates at Grambling.

鈥淪cheme wise, we鈥檙e going to do what fits our personnel,鈥 Douglas aid. 鈥淢ore important than that is this 鈥 we鈥檝e got to build a brotherhood, which is something a lot of teams in Baton Rouge need. Guys have got to count on each other and love each other no matter what.

鈥淵ou鈥檙e not always going to be ahead. It鈥檚 easy when you win. How will you react when your team is down? Are we going to pull together or apart? We鈥檙e working on a lot of things this summer. Developing that bond is one of them.鈥
